Custom blocks: write it once, use it in every email

Save the text you repeat — a signature, an offer, a P.S. — as a block, and put it into any template or campaign with a token such as {{block:signature}}. Change the block once, and every template and draft that uses it shows the new text.

What it does

  • One token, anywhere in the body

Pick a block from the Blocks list next to “Insert field”, and its token goes where your cursor is.

  • Merge fields inside

A block can carry fields such as {{first_name}}; they are filled in for each person like the rest of the email.

  • Edit once

Templates and drafts pick up a block’s new text. Each block lists the templates and drafts that use it.

  • Safe once it starts

When a campaign starts, its blocks are written into it, so a later edit never changes an email that is going out or scheduled.

  • Plain or formatted

A plain-text block fits a formatted email, and a formatted block becomes plain text in a plain email.

  • Missing blocks caught

If a block was deleted, the preview and the launch review say so before anything is sent. A workspace keeps up to 200 blocks.

How it works

  1. 1

Open Templates, then Blocks, and create a block such as “Signature”.

  2. 2

In a template or a campaign, choose Blocks and insert it.

  3. 3

Preview the email: the block’s text shows in place.

  4. 4

Edit the block later; every template and draft using it is up to date.

Questions about custom blocks

Can I use a block in the subject line?

No. Blocks go in the body; the subject takes merge fields.

What happens if I rename a block?

Nothing breaks. A block’s token is fixed when the block is made, so renaming it never changes an email that uses it.

Which plans include custom blocks?

Starter and up (Starter, Premium and Pro). On the Free plan the Blocks tab and picker show a note with a link to Plan & billing.

See what each plan includes on the pricing page, or read every question.
