Follow-ups in the same Gmail thread, stopped when they should be

Add up to 3 further emails to a campaign, each a few days after the one before it, in the same Gmail conversation. They stop for anyone who clicks a link or unsubscribes, and for anyone you mark as replied. Fusomail can’t see replies, because it never reads your inbox, so that part is yours: it says so before you launch.
Sample data
  1. First emailSent Mon 2 Nov

Anjali, a quick idea for Chai Point

Hi Anjali, may I send two ideas for your new menu?

  2. Follow-up 1Sent Thu 5 Nov

Re: Anjali, a quick idea for Chai Point

Hi Anjali, just checking you saw my note.

  3. Follow-up 2Due Mon 9 Nov

Stops if Anjali clicks, unsubscribes or you mark her as replied.

What it does

  • The same thread

Each follow-up goes out as “Re:” the subject that person got, as a reply to the email before it, so it sits in the same conversation in Gmail.

  • Up to 3, days apart

Choose the wait for each step, 1 to 30 days after the previous email to that person. Each has its own text, with merge fields and custom blocks.

  • It stops on a click

With click counting on, someone who clicks a link gets no more follow-ups. You can switch this off for a campaign.

  • It stops on an unsubscribe

Anyone who unsubscribes, or is on your suppression list, gets nothing more. Every email carries the unsubscribe link.

  • Replies are marked by hand

Fusomail asks Gmail for permission to send, never to read, so it can’t detect a reply. Mark people as replied on the campaign’s page, one by one, by selection, or from a pasted or uploaded list. Marked people get nothing more.

  • At the same careful pace

Follow-ups share the account’s gap between emails and daily limit, and each counts toward your plan’s monthly emails. Pause a campaign and they pause; cancel it and they stop.

In Fusomail

How it works

  1. 1

Write the campaign, then add follow-ups in the Follow-ups step: the wait and the text of each.

  2. 2

Launch it. The review shows how many emails this could mean, and asks you to confirm you understand Fusomail can’t see replies.

  3. 3

While it runs, mark anyone who replied as replied on the campaign’s page.

  4. 4

Each follow-up goes out when it is due, to people whose previous email was really sent. The campaign finishes after the last one.

Questions about follow-ups

Do follow-ups stop when someone replies?

Not by themselves. Fusomail can’t see replies, because it only has permission to send from your Gmail, not to read it. They stop when you mark the person as replied, one by one or by uploading a list. They stop by themselves on a click, when click counting is on, and on an unsubscribe.

Do follow-ups land in the same Gmail thread?

Fusomail sends each one as a reply in the same conversation: the same subject with “Re:”, the headers that link it to the previous email, and Gmail’s id of the thread.

Do attachments go with every follow-up?

No. Files go with the first email only.

Do follow-ups count toward my emails?

Yes. Every follow-up is an email: it counts toward your plan’s monthly emails and the Gmail account’s daily limit. If the month runs out, the campaign pauses until you resume it.

Which plans include follow-ups?

Starter and up (Starter, Premium and Pro). On the Free plan the section shows a note with a link to Plan & billing. A workspace that moves to Free keeps the follow-ups of campaigns it already launched.

See what each plan includes on the pricing page, or read every question.
