Unsubscribe and suppression

One-click unsubscribe, and a suppression list every campaign checks

Campaign emails carry a one-click unsubscribe link and the List-Unsubscribe headers Gmail looks for. Anyone who opts out goes on your workspace’s suppression list and is skipped by every campaign after that, by anyone on your team.
Sample data
  • Anjali Raoanjali@chaipoint.exampleClicked
  • Rahul Menonrahul@northwind.exampleSent
  • Meera Joshimeera@kiteandco.exampleSent
  • Tom Hughestom@hughes.exampleUnsubscribed

What it does

  • One-click unsubscribe

A short line at the end of each campaign email, plus the standard List-Unsubscribe and List-Unsubscribe-Post headers (RFC 8058) that let Gmail and other inboxes show their own unsubscribe button.

  • One list for the workspace

An address that unsubscribed is skipped in every campaign, whoever sends it and whichever list it is in.

  • Add addresses yourself

If someone replies “please stop”, add their address to the suppression list in one step.

  • Import a do-not-email list

Already have a list of people who asked not to be contacted? Upload it once.

How it works

  1. 1

Fusomail adds the unsubscribe link and headers to campaign emails.

  2. 2

A person clicks it and confirms in one step, or uses Gmail’s own unsubscribe button.

  3. 3

Their address joins your suppression list straight away.

  4. 4

Every later campaign skips them automatically.

Questions about unsubscribe and suppression

Do I need an unsubscribe link?

For marketing and outreach emails, laws such as CAN-SPAM in the US, GDPR and PECR in Europe and the UK, and Google’s rules for bulk senders all expect an easy way to opt out. Fusomail adds one for you.

What is the List-Unsubscribe header?

A line in the email’s headers, defined in RFC 2369 and RFC 8058, that tells Gmail and other inboxes how to unsubscribe someone in one click. Gmail then shows its own “Unsubscribe” button next to your name.

Can someone subscribe again?

Yes, if they ask you to. Removing an address from the suppression list is a deliberate step, recorded with who did it.
